Search Clark County Inmate Records

Clark County inmate records are searched through a mix of local jail contacts, the county-linked custody notification system, and state or federal locators when a person has moved beyond county custody. A Clark County jail roster search should start with the official local custody path, then shift to the jail information line, records request process, or Illinois prison search when the person is not listed. The key is matching the search to the right custody system: county jail, state prison, federal prison, or immigration detention.

Clark County Jail Records Path

Clark County does not appear to publish a separate county-hosted jail roster form on the official sheriff pages reviewed. The official local path begins at the Clark County Sheriff page, which links users to Illinois VINELink. The sheriff page describes Illinois AVN/VINELink as a free, around-the-clock service for custody status, case status, notifications, and recent offenders processed into the jail.

That distinction matters. Clark County inmate records for a person just booked at the local jail are not the same as IDOC records for a person serving an Illinois prison sentence. They are also not the same as federal BOP or ICE detention records. If VINELink does not show the person, the next practical step is to call Clark County Jail/Sheriff at 217-826-6393 or contact the office in person at 207 N. 5th St., Marshall, IL 62441.

Note: A missing online result does not prove release; the person may still be processing, transferred, held under another name, or in another custody system.

Use Clark County Inmate Lookup

The most reliable Clark County inmate lookup process is a short chain, not one search box. Start with the official sheriff-linked VINE route for current jail custody and recent processing. Then use the jail phone line for same-day status questions. For records that are not visible online, use a written Illinois FOIA request to the sheriff when the document is a jail, booking, or arrest record.

  1. Open the official Clark County Sheriff page and use its Illinois VINELink reference instead of an unofficial roster site.
  2. Search Illinois VINELink for custody or case status and, when useful, register for phone, text, or email notifications.
  3. If no result appears, call Clark County Jail/Sheriff at 217-826-6393 and ask whether the person is booked, released, transferred, or still in intake.
  4. For a releasable booking record not available online, send a clear written FOIA request to the sheriff's office at the jail address.
  5. If the person has been sentenced to Illinois prison, move to the IDOC Individual in Custody Search.

VINEmobile is the only mobile app documented in the official Clark County material. The sheriff page says the app is a free way to use VINE custody and case notification services. No separate Clark County sheriff app with a jail roster, warrant list, or app-only inmate search was found.

Clark County Roster Fields

The county-hosted roster field table is short because no Clark County branded roster form was located on the official county pages reviewed. The sheriff page supports the VINE path and recent-offender language, but the VINELink application did not expose stable Clark County field labels or a sample result during static inspection. IDOC fields are different because they apply to state prison custody, not the county jail.

For sentenced Illinois prisoners, the IDOC form provides verified search choices. IDOC also notes that the search can be unavailable during server maintenance or individual-in-custody updates. If an IDOC search returns no match, official reasons can include a different name, discharge, a county jail hold before trial or sentencing, or custody in another state system.

Clark County Inmate Record Fields

Clark County public profile fields could not be fully inventoried because there was no county-hosted roster sample and no stable Clark County VINELink sample record in the research. The safe claim is narrower: the sheriff describes VINE as a custody and case-status notification system with recent offenders processed into the jail. Do not assume a public Clark County result shows a mugshot, charge list, bond status, housing unit, or court date unless the live government-linked result displays it.

FieldWhat It Shows
Custody statusSupported by the sheriff and Attorney General descriptions of VINE; exact Clark County status values were not captured.
Case statusSupported by official VINE descriptions; formal court details should still be checked with court records.
Recent offenders processed into jailThe sheriff page says users may view this list; exact display fields were not captured.
Notification registrationVINE supports phone, email, and text alerts for registered users.
MugshotNot confirmed for Clark County VINELink during static inspection.
Charges, bond, housing unitNot confirmed in a public Clark County sample record; verify through jail or court sources.

IDOC profiles are more structured but apply to state custody. Official IDOC output can include IDOC number, name, parent institution, offender status, current location, photo links, VINE link, physical profile, marks or tattoos, admission date, projected parole date, projected discharge date, mittimus or case number, offense, county, sentence, and whether a sentence has discharged.

Clark County Custody Compared

A Clark County jail record usually concerns local custody after arrest, a pretrial hold, a short county sentence, or a temporary area-county hold. A state prison record begins after a person is committed to IDOC. Federal and immigration systems have their own locators and should not be searched as if they were part of the county jail roster.

The BOP locator uses number or name search fields, including BOP Register Number, DCDC Number, FBI Number, INS Number, first name, middle name, last name, race, age, and sex. ICE search works by A-Number and country of birth, or by first name, last name, country of birth, and birth date. ICE does not search records for people under 18.

Clark County Jail Facility

Only one detention facility was identified in Clark County official facility research: Clark County Jail. The jail is operated by the Clark County Sheriff's Office and serves the county jail role, not the state prison role. Sheriff William D. Brown, also referenced as Bill Brown in inspection materials, is the local sheriff. The 2024 IDOC inspection listed Jail Administrator Jay Sharp.

Clark County Booking Records

Clark County-specific booking timing was not published as a public jail procedure, but Clark County's IDOC inspection materials show the jail standards checked for intake. Those include determining the legality of confinement, verifying identity, fingerprinting and photographing in line with law, conducting an immediate pat-down search, documenting property, permitting a reasonable number of completed phone calls as soon as practicable, and starting a detainee record at admission.

Medical and safety screening also appear in the inspection materials. The 2024 report lists medical services through Cork Medical Center, two contractual RNs, EZ Clinic, and Paris Community Hospital unless the detainee has an established local physician. Fourteen-day screenings are provided by Clark County Health Department. Mental-health services are provided by Human Resources Center and Qun Wu MD with Horizon Health, and dental care is through Paris Family Dental unless another local dentist is established.

Formal court charges are a separate record stream. A jail or VINE entry may reflect custody and recent processing, but filed charges, amended charges, court dates, and dispositions should be verified through the Clark County Circuit Clerk or Judici. Illinois's current pretrial-release system also means older cash-bond assumptions should be checked with the court or jail before anyone acts on them.

Clark County Inmate Visitation

The official visitation detail is limited. The 2024 IDOC Clark County Jail inspection states that visits are face-to-face on Thursday and Sunday. The public sheriff page and inspection materials reviewed did not publish visit hours, visitor ID rules, dress code, child visitor rules, visit length, approval forms, holiday schedules, or lockdown procedures.

Clark County Jail Contact Options

Clark County did not publish a full public mail handbook or inmate address format in the sources reviewed. The safest mailing practice is to call the jail first, confirm that the person is currently held, use the person's full legal name, and ask whether a booking number or housing detail is needed. Do not send cash unless the jail confirms that it is allowed.

Clark County jail records also sit inside a broader public-records framework. Illinois FOIA supports access to many government records, and 5 ILCS 140/2.15 covers many arrest information items, including photographs when available. Exemptions can still apply for active investigations, safety, security, juvenile records, and other confidential material.
