Information You Provide
Search Terms
When you type a name, county, state, or similar search detail into a third-party search box, that query is sent to the provider operating the tool. Clark County Inmate Population does not keep its own log of those search terms.
Messages
If you send an email or contact message, we may keep the information needed to read, route, and answer it. We do not share those messages outside the organization unless a valid legal requirement makes disclosure necessary.
Information Collected Automatically
Like most websites, this site may receive basic technical information when a page loads. That information helps with security, maintenance, and site measurement.
- IP address used to reach the site.
- Browser name and version.
- Device type and operating system.
- Pages viewed and approximate time spent on pages.
- Referring website, when your browser provides one.
- Date and time of the visit.
Cookies
Cookies and similar tools may be used to understand site usage and support advertising or analytics functions. You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings, though some features or partner tools may behave differently when cookies are disabled.
How Information Is Used
- To keep the site available, readable, and reasonably fast.
- To send search requests to the third-party service selected by the visitor.
- To understand which Clark County jail, court, and locator pages are useful.
- To diagnose broken links, errors, security issues, or performance problems.
- To display advertising that may be based on general interests or browsing activity.
Outside Websites
This site links to official and third-party resources, including Clark County jail and sheriff pages, Illinois VINELink, Illinois Department of Corrections tools, court-record resources, federal locators, and partner search services. After you click away, the privacy policy of that other website controls.
Advertising partners may use their own systems to recognize activity across multiple websites for ad measurement or interest-based advertising. That tracking is handled by those partners, not by a Clark County government office.
Who May Receive Information
We do not sell personal information as a standalone product. Information may be available to the following parties when needed for site operations or legal compliance.
- Search partners that process the query or lookup you choose to run.
- Analytics providers that measure traffic and technical performance.
- Advertising networks that serve or measure ads.
- Law enforcement, courts, or government bodies when a valid subpoena, court order, or other lawful process requires it.
Security
We use reasonable, standard practices to protect information handled through the site. No internet-connected service can be guaranteed to be error-free, intrusion-proof, or completely secure.
Users Under 18
This site is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If a minor has submitted information, contact us so the information can be reviewed and deleted when appropriate.
Your Choices
- Ask for a copy of personal information we maintain about you.
- Request correction of information that is inaccurate.
- Ask that personal information be deleted when retention is not required.
- Opt out of certain processing where applicable law gives that right.
Public Records and Policy Updates
Some records discussed on this site may be available from public offices under Illinois FOIA, 5 ILCS 140, including certain arrest-record information governed by 5 ILCS 140/2.15. This privacy notice covers this private website, not how a sheriff, court, corrections agency, or public body handles official records.
This notice may be updated from time to time. When it changes, the revised version will be posted on this page with the new effective wording.
